you know, that's not going to happen. I think it's a case of you had to
be there.
Suffice to say that on Thursday evening I went to see The Police at
Telstra (or is that ANZ) Stadium. I had no luck in offloading the 2
extra tickets (except for one offer of $50 each, which was an insult) I
had for the show, but luckily Barbara bought them from me and took
Hannah. We got there in time to miss the first support (Sting's son's
band) but in time to see Fergie (which made the Michelle go all
mega-weepy :)), and then after a suitably short intermission where we
spied Hannah and Barbara in their seats, The Police hit the stage. To
say that it was awesome would be an understatement. All of the old hits
(except Canary In A Coalmine), one from 'Zenyatta Mondatta', one from
'Synchronicity', a couple from Sting's 'Dreams Of The Blue Turtle' and
overall it was a GREAT show :D. I got some shots and some footage, but
they were controlling access to the stage (and the tickets really did
dictate how close you were allowed to get) so the shots were... well
kinda 'See? I was there!' sort of shots. Still I WAS there and I was
VERY happy with it :).
Then, I took Friday off work, because I went to Big Day Out (along with
with Hannah, Lisa, Bekk & Erin) Heather didn't make it, because of
communication problems .. which seems to be happening more and more with
her these days. So at the end of the day there was a spare ticket (gotta
*love* that). It was a good day, with many bands, craziness abounding,
one sniffer dog, people in white stretch lycra that went see-through in
the rain (one guy with the largest 'bag-of-fruit' that I have ever seen,
and I have seen a few in my time), then bands in the main arena. We got
into the arena for Midnight Juggernauts and stayed there until Rage
Against The machine finished with 'Killing In The Name Of'... which
Hannah ran off and moshed to - and apparently no-one's nose got broken
(ask her for the story). Back to The Fortress with Miss Kate and Brian
(in a Mercedes Stretch Limo, the ONLY way to finish a music festival - I
will SO do it again next year) for spa-goodness (though Bekk had to
leave fairly quickly for some reason;)). Then after sunrise, and the
departure of Miss Kate and Brian, the arrival of Patrick, many
discussions and drinks, there was sleep for a little while.
Saturday was snoozing and getting ready for Berserk, though that got
somewhat cancelled as hannah took ill later in the evening, and I
elected to stay home and look after her... it was kinda nasty like a
stomach bug. However, after chemist visits etc... she seemed to get
marginally better, enough to sleep anyways. Lisa and Barbara got back
from Berserk, which apparently got overrun with 'ravers'(?) and there
was sleep.
The rest of the weekend was full of recovery and sleep, with a little
tension thrown in at times, but you get that in a long-weekend with much
happening.
Monday night was the SAG Awards, which was kinda funny, as most people
had gone off to Radioactivity and so were not in a state to play with an
Awards Show... also, some people thought that (because of the Writers'
Strike) that it would not be on... however it was - and champagne was
imbibed and hilarity was had... and awards were given out.
And now.... To Melbourne for Monty Python's Spamalot!!!!!
