I wanted/needed, it made calls, it received calls, it had a camera (2.0
megapixel), and it had a way to keep hold of all the numbers I wanted
and contact details etc... AND it had all my calendar events.
Then it simply stopped working, firstly with the software - and then
with the hardware, and it finally needed to be fixed under warranty.
This was good (although took 2 weeks), then the 'new' circuit-board
stopped working properly, and needed to be replaced (again) under
warranty, which took a further 2 weeks. Then (2 months out of warranty)
the phone stopped working again - so I had to upgrade the handset. That
was halfway through the week before last. They gave me a 6500-s1
The 6500-s1 slide was an upgrade that had a 3.2 megapixel camera, but
was basically a more robust version of the 6288. After having it for 3
weeks it failed. The sound quality was awful, the camera had less
resolution than the 6288, and overall it was a worse phone. So I
returned it to the place of 'upgrading' where the handset was instantly
replaced with another of the same model. This one failed within a week.
Firstly the microphone and speaker became 'fuzzy-sounding' and then the
phone wouldn't turn on properly (the screen would just go white and show
the battery power only). Finally, all the buttons stopped working
yesterday. You can't use any of the buttons (except for the on/off
button). I don't know if I can receive calls - if you've tried today,
that means I can't... as it hasn't rung. For that matter, I don't know
if it rings, that I can pick up calls. It also means that while I can
see that I receive SMS's - I can't navigate to read them, let alone
answer them.
I am going in today to change that over - hopefully for a new model
(with a better camera as well) - so not answering any SMS's does not
mean I'm ignoring you - it means that my phone is totally screwed and
broken (until later this afternoon).
