OK, so ... It's Wednesday

House inspection tomorrow - which is being facilitated by the most excellent <lj user="arby_doll">. I think there might be anough of a case to have the rent increase delayed (but with this market, you KNOW it won't be delayed for long)

This means a bit of work being done tonight to make the place all nice and sparkly. For that matter, there's a steam-clean scheduled to happen next Wednesday as well... this is a GOOD thing. We LIKE a house which is all neat and tidy - and so does the owner (and the Agent, too I assume, 'cause it's obviously being taken care of).

Work is 'amusing'... there's been a 7:30am start for the past 2 days for a Project which has been stalled due to some updated packages being sent out faulty (by this I am referring to SMS-deployed updates). To fix this, a secondary update was deployed which did not correct the damage (in fact exaserbated the issue) and so a third update was deployed which looks like it might have corrected the issue. So I get to come in tomorrow at 7:30am (again) to see if we can deploy the 9 (count 'em, only 9) machines over at Parramatta. Apparently the machines being replaced are NT and so are an SOB to do - and these 9 machines will apparently take 3 people 6-7 hours to replace. < smiling and nodding and backing away slowly >. So, another early start - but I think I get 2 days of VERY early finishes, or extra money, we'll see how that goes.

The Google Street View debate rages on throughout the office and all over the media... with quite a few saying that it's an 'invasion of privacy' (even though they are pictures of houses in <u>public</u> streets - ignoring the slip-ups of private roads, which is apparently being corrected). On the upside, I have now collected pics of almost all the houses I have lived in in my time, (I'm only missing the Shadforth St, Mosman apartment; the Harris St, Ultimo apartment; and a picture of the original house I lived in, which was demolished a number a years ago in Johnston Street, Annandale) is a VERY nice thing to finally have (I know, I know... small things amuse... yeah yeah I know).

Had a visit and a good chat with the inestimable <lj user="rocksluts"> last night for some emergency laptop repairs. That was quite worthwhile, as I haven't has a chance to catch up with him (in an extended fashion) for some time. It was good to chat and more than nice to have him offer dinner for the laptop repair :) It's a rain-check :) Also, after chatting with him, I think there's stuff I can learn from his photographic approach.

To revisit an old, tired, saga... AGAIN... my Vodaphone-supplied Nokia N95 is SO not performing up to spec. It reboots itself slowly in the middle of a call, the camera is dicey (the quality is not what I would expect from a 5MP camera, no GPS (rather, the GPS doesn't work - yet does on another N95 next to me), Nokia Maps doesn't work (yet it does on  the other phone sitting next to me), Software Updater doesn't work on the phone at all, and you can't download any non-photo items into 'Lifeblog', whereas you can from the other one (this 'other phone' belongs to a work colleague). So - after talking to Vodaphone, they direct me to Nokia (because according to them I have done all the troubleshooting that they can do, and all the settings are correct). Nokia listen to the problem and then redirect me back to Vodaphone Upgrades as according to them, the phone is DOA (within 4 weeks of delivery). The lovely person at Vodaphone Upgrades (very nice, good Customer Service skills) then goes off to talk to her Manager, with the tone in her voice which suggests <i>"Oh Gods. Not ANOTHER N95 return."</i> - Now, keep in mind that, they have replaced 3 x 6288s AND now 2 x N95s with roughly similar problems, causing me to upgrade (and pay for the difference) already once. The offer then was for an 8BG N95, which would cost even more $ (which I am ill-disposed to pay, as their phones are the ones are the one. I kindly refused and explained the 'Tale Of Woe'(TM) that led to this part of the journey. So, finally, they offered me a free upgrade to a Nokia N95 8GB with no extra $ needed to pay. This is quite a nice development, and as I said to the lovely Ange from Vodaphone, <i>"Crossed fingers and we'll see how it goes."</i> Having said that, if there're any missed messages calls etc... with no explanation. I am going to assume that they weren't received/sent and so apologies. No, I have not been rude (that I am aware of) but merely the victim of bad phonage... but apologies nonetheless.

Also, on the upside, I am quite excited that Jow is making a trip to Sydney tonight (this IS Wednesday, yes?) for a week of work :) Which means that I am SO going up to see her, possibly tomorrow night, and she may well be staying with me after the weekend - just got to see how things go with her there :)

Ahhh - only 2 hours to go - then off to tidying up the house for tomorrow's house inspection.
