Ten minutes to type a new entry - and hopefully it will be visible to all on my friends list/s.
Say, anyone else been having a rash of Russian people joinging their blogs and then dumping them when they see that they're Friends Only? I've had about 20 doing that in the past 2 weeks. Weird.
Life in the past week and a bit has been hectic but fun - well OK, fun in the I am working dammit :) So money will be coming in soon, kinda way. Work has been work, I have gotten a little pay so far - but the regular cycle comes into effect next week and so then it's fortnightly. Meaning that I am yo-yo-ing between Parramatta and the City. This is not such a bad thing at all, as it gives variety and I think I have a handle on most of the issues which can/will crop up. yes the pay is less, but I am of the opinion that if you really want to get a job, you'll take what's out there and not hold out for something which is (currently) out of reach. Having a job (also read: money) is [a] better then NOT having a job/money and also [b] better than me slothing about and sponging, which I loathe (and make sure I sop doing stop doing as soon as a possibly can when job-hunting).
I haven't had much chance to go out this past month as I have been getting my shite together for paying back some bills when my next 'wage' comes in. Granted it's not as much as I was gettign (and it's only confirmed until June 30 - as most contracts are right now - but still - it's money - and it's paying the bills :)
I've also been unable to go out on the weekends (apart from funds) because I've been really busy filming. 2 Tropfest entries down ;) - another this weekend (sorry folks, it's going to be a REALLY early start tomorrow morning but Sunday is later so 'Into The Woods'/Ash's birthday is possible for a short time on Saturday night) and 3 more films in the offing (awaiting outcome of auditions). I'd actually foergotten how REALLY good it is to do this, Cass/Anne, you know what I mean, right?
On a sombre note: Yesterday was the Anniversary of (my friend) Noel Bon's death, last year. It's been a year already... sheesh. I raised a glass last night and I will raise two tonight (as well as place a kitten's tail in my mouth... those from Tir Na'Nog'th and Smithfield will understand that most of all). Vale, my friend, you are missed. Also, making the passing of Charles 'Bud' Tingwell, last night. He was the quintessential Australian TV Cop and character actor. An Australian acting stalwart and icon. The profession is lessend by his loss.
On the upside, I've got a champagne-soaked Eurovision Final this Sunday night :) and I'm looking forward to seeing the trashy glory of the entrants :) the newspaper coverage so far has shown some really awesome entrants (and I mean that in the wonderfully trashy Eurovision way). I know I am going to be damned tired from filming earlier.
Later on in the week, a preview session of Lesbian Vampire Killers (thanks Dean) on Wednesday night I think will start the leadup to the weekend. I think a Yum Cha should be in order on next Saturday morning - because Barbs and I haven't been to one in ages, and I know Wynter hasn't ever been to one. So it will be an education. Who's up for that? (I may pop a Barbarianplates' Invite in for that - we ARE late this year).
Next Saturday night (not this Saturday night) I think I may well be calling through to No Vitals to finally see what it's like, as it's moved dates (although I'm not sure what's going to happen when Shallow Nation gets back from hiatus in a month...) Anyway, after that I think heading off to The Chamber is in order :) Why? Just to see what it's like. After all, it'll be my first full weekend out in about 6 weeks and I think I may want to cut loose somewhat. Next Sunday I think heading to the Primo Italiano festival in east Sydney (down near Felix's place) might be a nice thing to do... G.E.T? You and the GF going to be around that day (late that day)?
Heck, I've got a Sydney Film Festival Programme in my hot little hands, too, and some of the films look damned excellent :) Last year we saw the premiere of "Kung Fu Panda"... (Barbs? That feels like only last month ;) ) - This year the film to see is Neil Gaiman's "Coraline" :) - directed by Henry Selik, the man who directed "Nightmare Before Christmas".
You know what we need in this city (that we haven't had in a long time)? A movie bookshop based in a cinema. One which sells movie adaptions of the films showing there... There was one in GU George Street (when it was Hoyts) but that was years ago... Anyway, I digress.
Facebook is banninated from work, so this post is remote - and MAYBE it'll get to LJ this time through Ping.FM. Weekend stuff... yes - early rising tomorrow... eugh.
