Award Nights, Event Seasons, and related things...

I know, I haven't been here too much - and that's a bad thing mmmkay?

Still, I have been getting over being our of work for 3 months, and now settling into the new 12 month contract with 'Communities NSW'. Of course that doesn't mean that there have not been things which I have been doing ;)

Cats are doing well :) and seeing as they are all healthy I decided to get the older ones (well if you can call 5 and 4 old) insured. Pet insurance... will sure save on the vet bills in the future I am sure. and they're not due for checkups for months :) I know, Dara is fat... but she's just a furry blimp, and she does run around like a crazy thing and is VERY healthy, so Janet said in her last consult a few months ago.

January is traditionally the Awards Season (as well as the Event Season) and so I have been going to things, attending events, and paying back 3 months worth of savings which got whittled away. Also, adjusting to just having Barbs and I at The Fortress (and the cats)... means we have the room (albeit temporarily) to use the 'spare' room as a holding bay for things as we clean up the reast of the house (meaning doing each room and using the 'spare' one as a 'sorting room'). I think first will be the lounge room and the room-without-a-name (off the kitchen).

OK, next, I haven't had the time, meaning I haven't MADE the time - which is bad, to thank those 50+ people who came to 'Spa Trek' this year at The Fortress. A good time was had by all and the fire burnt quite brightly this year ;) Yes yes the spa is still in one piece... just. There are photos... :) and very few will be published (because what happens at The Fortress, stays at The Fortress ;))

Also, thanks to those who came along to Flickerfest this year as well. This was my 18th annual sojourn to Bondi Beach during the first two weeks of January, and it was a very good time indeed. I can't wait for next January, which will be my 19th Festival and Flickerfest's 20th Anniversary (yes I feel OLD now).

Also, thanks to those who came to 'The Golden Globes' last night :) Many champagne cocktails were served and much food was had, along with too much laughing and

The job is going fine, already passed the learning curve, it's all stock standard 2/3 Level Support so I am quite at ease with it all so far :)

My current show, 'Theatre Of Blood' finishes up it's First Season run this Friday night at 11pm (come along and sell out the place). Then we go into planning for Season 2, as well as me working on a show for Mardi Gras (I can't tell you MUCH more about that one... well I can, but not right away). After that - I am going back into Short Films for the year (along with Season 2 of 'Theatre Of Blood') and a couple of other projects. I'd like to do more, but my Agents aren't forthcoming with very much right now (well, OK, I DO need a showreel).

'Symphony at The Domain' this Saturday night (gotta love the 1812 Overture with fireorks and cannons), followed by 'Shallow Nation' (the first for 2010) at (what used to be known as) Gilligans at The Oxford Hotel. So, make sure you get there before 2am because the DJs are damned fine early on, and remember they DO have a lock-out period which DOES also mean that if you're outside doing the smoking thing, they WILL lock you out and NOT let you back in (after 2am).

Oh!... and I will be working a gig with Patrick Stewart (yes yes Captain Jean-Luc Picard, Gurney Halleck, Deputy Director Bullock, himself) on January 31st at the Sebel in Parramatta.. see the Culture Shock Events website ( http://ping.fm/QPpjo ) for details :)

I think that's my lot - back to work, stuff to do, bills to pay, you know the drill ;)
