...and so another test of a new work email address

It's been a while since a REAL entry, and now the first one for the Google-'Blogger', too. So I guess I should update what things have been happening (for MY records as well as the 'edification' of those who peek in and live vicariously through what I do/see... you poor people).

So, I was on vacation for 3 weeks, the first I have had in 5 years, which made me realise that I seriously needed at least that much more time off. The only thing crappy about that is having to pay the expenses for living back after that time. So I went with going back to work 3 weeks afterwards to the company that originally outsourced me to APEC, called ASG, and they put me into a telco. The place is OK, the people are OK - of course it's no APEC, so the original appeal of staying with 'the team' as floated by the ASG head honcho guys really isn't here, but still, a paypacket is a paypacket, yes? This was a little weird, because at the end of the day, they will be looking to put me on permanent (and you know what I expect from that). As I mentioned to them at the time - I will see what happens and how things run around the expiry of my contract which is 'officially' January 28th. Now that's another funny thing, because that's a Monday. As it is, I will be having Jan 24th and 25th off - which works for The Police and Big Day Out, and I will have Monday 28th off as well, so a 5 day weekend is good. Means I can see most of the things that week and not have to worry about work. It is unknown what will happen after that, as my contract will be expired - and I will be looking (I mean I have been head-hunted for a $95K base job at the moment, with a guarantee of no more than 45 hours a week, which I am seriously considering). Just as a side-note (and I have addressed this briefly before): as far as the annual fort_leichhardt Boxing Day influx of friends and 'family' is concerned - it is absolutely on. I have put in for the day after Boxing Day off, and it looks more than promising ;). Now all we NEED is this damned spa - but the 2 leads I have had have... er... disappeared (ie: the 2 people who said that they knew of places to hire them from) have disappeared. So I am STILL on the lookout for one... little help here? :)

So, apart from vacation and work... I've been going out to a few more things and catching up with a few more people, that in itself has been a very good thing - something I've needed to do but haven't been able to because of the days/hours etc... with APEC. Of course that leads to spending money I shouldn't - and for some weird reason all the good bands/acts seem to be heading into the country about this time, and with some of them you KNOW that it may well be the last time you will see them here. So, I am taking those opportunities as I can. Which reminds me - people who owe me monies for things... check your email, as 'BillMonk' is sending out reminders to you and I haven't gotten replies from some of you (you know who you are - and I WOULD like the monies ASAP) :)On a more personal front, things have been pretty good :) (although I must add that some people going away for extended periods isn't totally fun at all ;), and some others just not talking anymore is also very much not fun - but I guess it happens, and I'm sure it's for their own reasons [although a bit rude I think]. Just don't expect me to be waiting around, y'know? These things take effort on all sides). PS: The person who sent the anonymous SMS messages from a Telstra public phone? They were right on the money it seems. Yes yes that's cryptic, but I am sure they (if they read this) will know who/what I mean. Still, you win some and you lose some. mslucyblue, my favourite dancer, gets back here next week on November 13th (although, unfortunately, for only a shortened stay in between gigs). I have heard that she'll also be back early in the new year for (at least) a couple of weeks (depending on work) so that makes me VERY happy :) - after all - MANY people want to do shoots with her and there is some overseas interest - paying gigs ;). The wonderful uberredfraggle will also be back in the new year (after her trip home to Oxford and getting back just in time for Big Day Out). Mind you, I'm still waiting on the ticket-delivery here. I know some have gone out - but still I won't be totally happy until I have them out of the Registered Mail and in my hot little hand. Now, she has people asking to do shoots with her too - so you never know what can happen ;). Also, there may just be a visit from the much anticipated lolife (currently studying at Wroxton) sometime next year - we'll wait and see what happens there - something to do with needing a certain Grade-Level, I believe ;). Very excited about a potential visitor staying up for both Die Maschine and The Newtown Festival this weekend. Plans are afoot, but we'll see what happens in regards to fundage. I think it'll be fine - but I want to be sure.

Mandi (my more than excellent god-daughter) is very well and getting the rubbish people out of her life - which I am very happy to see. She's got a new job (so the dancing is on hold for the moment) but she wants me to keep an eye out for her for photo-work, which I think I have a lead on for her. I know who I am loking at... I'm looking at you spiteful_elf, and you Mr rocksluts. Also, happily, we are heading to Soundwave 2008 together, as well as Ozzy Osbourne. Much looking forward to that, too. I was tempted to head to Gigantour as well, but mslucyblue gets back that week (and it's HER first Hellfire in about 14 months!! - not to mention her first weekend in Sydney with me for 7 months!!!) and I wasn't sure if it was Jow's cup o'tea (Gods, how pedestrian does that expression sound?)

Health-wise? Well, apart from that stupid wrenched/torn intercostal muscle on my left side (which I am seeking/getting treatment for - some with thanks to the lovely xenthar), things are pretty much going to be OK. I'm also a little tired, and that will just get 'worse' over Summer, as per normal, but that's partially because of the stupid pain-killers I have been on the past week on. Note to self: No pain-killers before bed - makes one wake up late and with a hangover - and not the kind you know that you had fun with the night before. I just also have to lose a little pudge - but that was put on in winter and so I hope to be able to have it gone in a month-ish or so - I think Lite 'N' Easy will be the go for a little while ;) It saves money and some effort - though, strangely enough, I DO enjoy the ritual of weekly shopping. Note to self: Blood-test time this week sometime.

barbarianplates is having it's last feasting of the year. So those members who want to go to the Degustation on the last Friday of this month NEED to tell me ASAP - go to the community and put your names down on the poll - there IS a deposit I have to pay for this one - so please only those who WANT to go :) eventsinsydney has been updated for the week/end - and I will be looking at a way to stop this weird posting problem on the Events In Sydney MySpace site. I'm also wondering if I can link Facebook group-entries through to Facebook listed events, on the Facebook 'Events In Sydney' Group. Multiple postings can be a bit of a pain, but as long as I keep ahead with it,it's almost just cut-n-paste. I think I really need to set up that posting-script-generation program.Heck, this is a somewhat long rambling post - so if you've read this far, you're doing well - I think friends who decided that my posts are too long/irrelevant for them have all un-subscribed anyway ;).

Last night - Tarla Trent at The Gaelic and lots of stuff this week/end... 'Livin' The Life' is what the great and terminally cool medicinalminx called it :) - who wants in on the ride? - I know certain people who I really want in on the ride :D

That's all my lot for now - let's see how posting from this new work e-dress works ;)
