Been busy settling in...

...and the job is proving both challenging (at the start) and a load of
fun (well, I mean 'fun' in that project management, dealing with
good/bad/ugly people, laughing at prima donnas kinda fun). So it appears
that it's a real contract through until end of February as a start (and
I believe that this is something akin to that '3 month trial' issue
which most jobs have) and then the boss says that I'll probably be here
until the end of Campus 2010 (which I think most people here call that
'bucking for tenure').

Gosh, apart from that it's been a busy week, no?

OK - so 2 other recent short entries have noted an ejaculatory burst of
irritation. <i>[shrug]</i> I do it so rarely that I think I have some
leeway in my 'account'. The positive out of that are the people asking
if everything is OK? Y'know to that (and that alone) I am very grateful
:) Makes me feel all Sally Field, really :)

I had a great (last) weekend - seriously :). I was loathe to have it
end, but work had to happen, otherwise money can't be spent on people so
much y'know? Spent a goodly amount of time with Bekk, some time with Im,
and my phantom housemate (she does exist, really) has been about more
often which is a very cool thing. I've been off seeing many things
(events are coming out of my ears) almost not having time to see them
all, really. However, it also means that I get to make the time to catch
up with people, and overall I think that's a more important thing - you
never know what people are really like, and how well you really get on,
until you make the time to spend with them.

Last weekend was the <b><a
href="http://www.possibleworlds.net.au/">(Canadian) Night Of
Horror</a></b> at The Chauvel Cinema in Paddington, followed by rushing
home, changing, and heading off to <b><a
href="http://club_ascension.livejournal.com">Ascension</a></b> and
catching up with many many people there for the last one of the year. (I
mean that's going to be the same this weekend with <b><a
href="http://www.homebake.com.au">Homebake</a></b> and <b><a
href="http://diemaschine.technetium.net.au">Die Maschine</a></b> this
Saturday). After Ascension it was off to 349, time with the residents
there, then back to mine with a surprise trunk-purchase on the way ;)
Sunday was a good day of spending time with worthwhile people and some
(how does Amaya put it) twaddle and trash-talk before Bekk headed off,
and I headed off to <b><a href="http://www.myspace.com/lafemme">La
Femme</a></b> at The Annandale. Then the week of work, catching up with
Michelle, a night at Goth City, The AFI Awards, and getting supplies in
for the weekend.

Today's Friday, and all the projects here are on track (even the
surprise last-minute ones). I must have lunch, then I will work on
finalising the week and getting ready for the weekend. The funny thing
is that there is nothing really on this Friday night. I could figure
something out I guess, but I might just have a quiet one in instead.
Tomorrow is Homebake with Michelle and Im, sadly Bekk and Gill can't
make it, thence Die maschine and on Sunday evening: the aptly named
<b><a
href="http://www.sydneyoperahouse.com/Whatson/NotTheMessiahHesaNaughtyBo
y.aspx">'Handel's (Not The) Messiah (he's a Very Naughty Boy)' by (and
starring) Eric Idle</a></b>.

Is there anyone/thing else I missed?
