After one and a half weeks...

...the powers that be have finally gotten me my logins for all the requiait programs and applications here (I think). Therefore I can finally start doing some work... of some description ;) Well it beats trying to look busy whilst just taking the time to explore the network... which is tough when you have limited access to the network...

Anyway... kinda curious about this second X-Files movie. I mean 8 years ago The X-Files Movie was hot on the heels of the TV series and everyone was still interested. There's been no real revival of the series, and nothing has rally come up in the news about it... so I unfortunately have to ask... "How relevant is it?". I'll find out tomorrow I think. That means I should re-watch the original movie tonight and then (just for the hell of it) I may go and see the new film tomorrow night (no not Gold Class - I'm still recovering from the past 6 weeks (end-of-financial-year) contract-hunting.Also, there are other films I have missed in the past 6 weeks I might want to go and see, too (again, non-gold-class). For that matter, what about the new <b><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1185834/">"Star Wars: Clone Wars"</a></b> CGI film? I thought they'd covered all that in the Hasbro-produced "Clone Wars" animated mini-series 2-3 years ago. (Apparently this has got to do with the side-characters as opposed to the main characters). I am worried that this might be just a 'milking the cash-cow' exercise. Ahhh well, maybe this is kinda like The Star Wars Book Universe meets the Star Wars Film Universe? Well, we'll see.

As some may be aware, there has been some drama at The Fortress recently, and  know a few people have asked about details. It's really not my place to put details of a household member's issue/s out in the wild, but suffice to say that it's nothing to do with me, directly (it IS something to do with me in regard to someone stretching [not breaking] the boundaries of Rule Number 1 - and having a certain non-resident/non-household-member not being welcome at The Fortress for a certain period of time). The problem is being resolved and treated in a professional manner. In other news, things are a little on the quiet side, at The Fortress, with <lj user="piratenoir"> off on sabbatical (visiting the folks I believe), but that leads to being able to take time to re-arrange some things like shelving, videos, fixing that malfunctioning lock on the front door, etc... Also, I am looking for ideas on how to provide the same measure of shade, in the back yard, that the missing Palm Trees provided before summer arrives. The trees had to go because they were tipping the back wall onto the street (as most people know). So, I know that some ivy and so forth will help on top of the wall, but I am speaking of the shade higher up andacross the yard. Shade-cloth? Netting? Something like that? Ideas? Also, I've popped together a Google calendar which can be accessed by <lj comm="fort_leichhardt"> members. It shows what we have coming up in the next number of months. Yes, yes, it's like the <lj comm="eventsinsydney"> calendar. Details will be given to those <lj user="fort_leichhardt"> members who need to know what the upcoming 'events' are.

Hmmm now onto Feasting! Ahh yes - so far we have a nice amount of people coming to <lj comm="barbarianplates">this Friday night (apparently the pirrogi is to die for, and the duck is apparently several levels more than fine). However, bookings close this evening. Now they are a small-ish restaurant, so don't book unless you are coming (and remember, once voted on, you can STILL go into the Poll and alter your bookings if necessary). Also, we still have a little room for <lj comm="barbarianplates"> members who may wish to book before 6pm-ish tonight - first in best fed ;)

Damnit! Next week I have to jet down to Melbourne on Thursday afternoon, and fly back first thing Friday morning. That's a Wicked! Thing to have to do overnight. That reminds me, now that I have some $ coming in, I will be able to get accommodation there overnight ;) - I think.

Finally, I find that I am finally going to be doing this damned rollout (that I was hired for), starting next week - which means that I will be on the road somewhat on a daily basis from next week onwards. Damn - it means I will have to get my 3G laptop card working so I can access things whilst testing/troubleshooting PC installations.
