...and again we trial the post by email facility -

…This time coming to you from the bohemian environs of Sydney University.

With fingers crossed, I will be here until (at the least) the end of February in a Project Management capacity (though the ‘official’ term is ‘Support Specialist’, we all know what we are doing here). Just as a point, I won’t be commenting on specifics with this job, though I may make the odd incredulous comment regarding (alleged) ‘special’ people which I have been forewarned about/that I meet.

Wednesday, and a person’s mind turns to things of @ Newtown in the evening – though it won’t be a late one tonight, as I am a little tired with this hyperbolic learning curve that my brain is getting, but the bulk is who to talk to and where they are and what internal politics they have – all in a day’s work for an event-manager-experienced person… but it’s still a ramping up process. What IS the job here? Well suffice to say that it’s regulating bump-ins, moves and so forth within the USyd environs, taking into account all the variables including FFE, IT, Voice, etc… (primarily from the IT perspective, though). There’s just so much building and moving going on in the Uni, that all things being equal – the opportunity is to be here until the completion of the overall project… Campus 2010 ;), which IS a long-term contract if it works out that way – of course things and ideas change, but still it’s the carrot they’re dangling ;) – this also means that I have Project Management officially on my CV …and my price just went up ;) – I’m just going to have to keep my technical end in because we have others here to do the actual Install/Support work – and I think it’s important to keep that end in, otherwise you get rusty.

Quite happy with the arrangements for Boxing Day so far ;) – and I am happy to note that The Spa WILL be making it’s long overdue return, in the original form. It’s arranged, on the way, and will be at The Fortress mid-December until Mid Jan J. The Fruit is soaking in spirits, already, the BBQ is being cleaned and re-gassed… all in all I think it’ll be MOST worthwhile.

So, tonight is (perhaps) dinner before heading to Goth City with an early-ish night (being about 10-ish I think) – merely because of the earlier start tomorrow. I need to leave a little early because I am going to see “Midsummer Night’s Dream” (allegedly with Imogene) at Centennial Park, tomorrow night – at that starts at 7:30 (meaning I need to head home, grab pic-a-nic stuff and head back into Centennial Park by 7:30pm. Speaking of theatre, I’m a little disappointed that I can’t get tickets to Keating! (well, I can get them, it’s just that they are only on the far sides and up the back (those who know me know why that’s SO not a good thing) and in singles only. Also, there are no 2 seats together L. So I guess that’s out. Bugger! On the other hand – excitement happened when that long-awaited Registered letter arrived in the mail yesterday… so… Yes! My Big Day Out tickets arrived!!!! (not to mention that Jow looks like she has a ticket too, so she’s going on the Gold Coast [as is her tradition]). Gee, I go off on tangents, don’t I?

Anyone else going to “The Night of Canadian Horror” at The Chauvel next weekend? There’s a Zombie Ball afterwards ;)
